About the Role

The Electrical Engineer I will support the design of safe and efficient electrical and control products for AAON, a leader in HVAC innovation and sustainability since 1988. Based in Longview, TX, the role contributes to creating highly configurable equipment that delivers efficiency, performance, and long‑term value for commercial and industrial indoor environments. Key duties include developing and modifying electrical diagrams, creating control system designs for prototypes, and defining component specifications. The engineer collaborates with electrical and mechanical designers to ensure seamless integration, provides design guidance to team members, establishes testing and maintenance procedures, and conducts testing and troubleshooting to verify safety and functionality. Additional responsibilities involve implementing engineering change notices, supporting production during prototypes and initial runs, managing part shortages, building test fixtures, preparing cost estimates, generating bills of materials, and producing documentation and operating instructions. • Develop and modify electrical diagrams and control system designs for prototypes. • Define component specifications and create cost estimates, bills of materials, and translation documents. • Read schematics, recommend changes, and collaborate with mechanical designers for system integration. • Provide design guidance and oversight to electrical designers, enabling optimized releases. • Establish and document testing, operation, maintenance, and repair procedures. • Test, troubleshoot, and certify electrical/control products for safety and performance. • Implement engineering change notices and support production during prototypes and initial runs. • Manage part shortages, build test fixtures, and coordinate approvals with engineering teams. • Perform Electrical AutoCAD modeling, simulations, and develop ePlan programs. • Lead or support DFMEAs, PFMEAs, CFD, FEA, and seismic evaluations. • Ensure designs comply with UL, CE, NEC, IBC, NFPA, and other relevant codes. • Maintain technical knowledge through workshops, publications, and professional societies. • Travel as required to support projects and installations.

What You Bring

The position requires proficiency with Electrical AutoCAD modeling, ePlan programming, and participation in DFMEAs, PFMEAs, CFD, FEA, and seismic evaluations. The engineer must stay current with national and local electrical codes such as UL, CE, NEC, IBC, and NFPA, and maintain professional knowledge through workshops and industry publications. Education requirements are a B.S. in electrical engineering or technology with five years of industry experience, or an associate degree with ten years of experience. • Hold a B.S. in electrical engineering or technology with 5+ years industry experience (or associate degree with 10+ years).
