About the Role

The Millwright is responsible for installing, assembling, dismantling, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery at a combined-cycle power plant. Work includes construction of heat recovery steam generators, gas and steam turbines, large industrial generators, and other equipment integral to the plant. • Operate high‑complex precision machines including ball mills, turbines, conveyors, generators, hydraulic systems, pumps, gears, bearings, and compressors • Plan, inspect, verify, and document scope of work • Use precision leveling, alignment tools, calipers, micrometers, and optical instruments for measurements • Fit bearings, align gears and wheels, attach motors, and connect belts according to blueprints • Dismantle machines with hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools • Assemble and install shafting, conveyors, tram rails, and other equipment • Bolt, weld, rivet, and fasten machinery to foundations or structures • Operate engine lathes, grinders, and files • Construct machinery foundations when required • Fabricate and install parts by measuring, cutting, drilling, and welding • Turn machine parts to dimensional specifications • Unload, inspect, move, and position equipment using cranes, hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks • Employ rigging and hoisting devices such as chokers, chain falls, and come‑alongs to place equipment • Perform preventative maintenance including lubrication and repair of worn parts • Follow supervisor directions and complete other assigned duties • No direct reports, but occasional oversight of helpers and laborers with positional authority

What You Bring

The role does not have formal direct reports but may supervise helpers and laborers as needed, providing expertise and guidance. Candidates must be physically capable of extensive standing, lifting up to 50 lb, working at heights and in adverse weather for up to 12‑hour shifts, and must strictly follow Zachry’s safety policies and values. Effective communication, teamwork, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision are essential. • Experience installing, repairing, and maintaining power generation machinery and industrial equipment • Proficient reading blueprints, schematics, engineering specs, and technical manuals to determine work procedures • Skilled with industrial hand and power tools and possess full set of Journeyman Precision Millwright tools • 4–5 years industrial construction/maintenance experience; minimum 3 years millwright work in power generation plants • Reliable transportation and availability to work seven days as needed • Demonstrated industrial construction/maintenance background • Knowledge of hand, power, and layout tools (lasers, ultrasonic devices, plumb bobs, cutting torches, welding machines, hydraulic torque wrenches, soldering guns, lathes, grinders) • Understanding load properties of cables, ropes, hoists, and chains; ability to use certified hand signals • Strong organization, time‑management, problem‑solving, and manual dexterity • Proficiency in math, geometry, and layout concepts • Ability to lead others, provide detailed instructions, and maintain good reading comprehension • Team player who can also work independently with minimal supervision • Effective communication with co‑workers and supervisors • NCCER Journeyman Industrial Millwright certification (preferred) • Zachry ROF’ed or former Zachry employee (preferred) • Basic computer skills and formal/technical education (preferred) • Physical ability for extensive standing, walking, bending, squatting, lifting up to 50 lb, and occasional work at heights • Good hand/finger dexterity for precise adjustments and ability to signal, grab, turn, push, and pull tools and equipment • Capability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, snow, or wind for up to 12 hours per day • Required PPE includes hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, hearing protection, respirator, safety vest, gloves, and steel‑toe boots • Own complete set of standard millwright hand tools as listed (toolbox, punches, tape measure, levels, pliers, wrenches, hammers, cutters, etc.)
