About the Role

The Class C Lineman is an entry‑level position responsible for construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical overhead distribution systems. Work is performed at various locations and may require travel to other states based on customer demands. Essential duties include safely performing new construction, maintenance, and repair on both energized and de‑energized overhead lines, stringing wire, and setting poles and anchors. The lineman also assists with installing transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and related switchgear, as well as replacing fuses, clearing faulted circuits, and maintaining vehicles, equipment, and tools. • Perform new construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de‑energized overhead distribution systems. • String overhead wire and set poles, anchors, and hand lines. • Assist with installation of transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and related switchgear. • Replace transformer fuses, clear faulted circuits, and perform grounding procedures. • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in proper working condition. • Follow all safety rules, use and inspect PPE, and adhere to proper grounding and equipment set‑up procedures. • Identify primary and secondary voltages, recognize induced voltage, and check voltage on transformers. • Tie lineman knots, use Kellum grips, and operate hand lines as required. • Work extended periods outdoors, including inclement weather, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

What You Bring

Candidates must have 1‑2 years of experience and be capable of rigorous physical labor, including climbing, lifting over 50 lb, and working at heights or in confined spaces. They must be able to identify primary and secondary voltages, understand induced voltage, inspect PPE, tie lineman knots, use Kellum grips, and operate hand lines, and they should possess or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License. The role requires regular communication, standing, walking, handling, and reaching, while being exposed to fumes, airborne particles, mechanical vibration, and loud noise. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and may involve extreme site environments. • Safely work at heights, in confined spaces, and climb various structures using appropriate tools. • Travel long distances on short notice, possess a Commercial Driver’s License (preferred), and lift over 50 lb.
