About the Role
The job requires leading crews, conducting pre‑job briefings, inspecting work, and promoting safety, with frequent work on high‑voltage energized systems. The splicer must be able to operate a backhoe, handle company equipment, identify primary and secondary voltage, understand grounding, recloser one‑shot procedures, work in confined spaces, install and remove PPE, and plan safe work based on job prints or work orders. • Lead crew and act as foreman’s representative when absent. • Conduct pre‑job briefings and inspect crew work. • Promote safety and follow flag/tag and confined‑space procedures. • Operate backhoe and safely use/maintain company equipment. • Identify primary and secondary voltage, grounding, and one‑shot recloser procedures. • Work safely with energized high‑voltage systems. • Perform confined‑space work and proper PPE installation/removal. • Plan safe work from job prints or work orders. • Terminate various cable sizes and inspect rubber goods and PPE. • Perform switching, splicing, and troubleshooting of underground circuits. • Identify utility locates, unforeseen obstacles, and apply underground switching procedures. • Use hand tools continuously and be exposed to dirt, power, fumes, noise, and vibration. • Work overtime and extended periods at various locations as needed.

What You Bring
The Underground Cable Splicer is a skilled position in the construction, maintenance and repair of electrical underground distribution systems. The role involves safely performing new construction, maintenance or repair work on both energized and de‑energized underground systems. Physical demands include regular standing, walking, lifting over 50 lb, using hand tools continuously, and exposure to inclement weather, dirt, fumes, noise and vibration. The employee must be able to talk, hear, and perform repetitive motions with hands and arms. The position requires 1‑3 years of experience, the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days, and compliance with company safety rules and policies. The company values self‑motivation, teamwork, customer focus, communication, and ethical conduct. • Understand underground services, duct banks, and phasing sticks for line de‑energization. • Lift over 50 lb, travel long distances on short notice, and work in inclement weather. • Obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days; CDL preferred.
