About the Role
The Senior Estimator is a pivotal figure in construction, responsible for overseeing the estimation process and delivering accurate, competitive cost assessments. This role may supervise up to five direct reports and will guide bid strategies, facilitate decision‑making, and contribute directly to project profitability. • Evaluate project specifications, plans, and requirements to define scope and objectives. • Perform detailed material takeoffs for accurate quantity calculations. • Prepare precise cost estimates using advanced estimating software and industry methodologies. • Analyze direct and indirect costs, overhead, and profit margins to develop competitive bids. • Research competitor bids and pricing strategies to inform proposal development. • Collaborate on value engineering to identify cost‑saving alternatives without compromising quality. • Review and refine estimates with estimating teams to ensure accuracy and compliance. • Develop and execute comprehensive bid strategies based on market conditions and client expectations. • Lead the preparation of organized bid packages, meeting all submission requirements and deadlines. • Engage with clients and stakeholders to clarify specifications and build positive relationships. • Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate quotes from vendors and contractors to secure favorable terms. • Maintain organized records of estimates, bids, vendor communications, and historical cost data. • Prepare and present cost breakdowns and assumptions to internal teams and clients. • Mentor and train junior estimators, fostering professional development. • Utilize Bluebeam, Microsoft Office Suite, Planswift, and Foxit for documentation and analysis.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of construction lifecycles, methods, materials, codes, and estimating principles, along with strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Mastery of advanced estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Planswift) and proficiency in Microsoft Office are required, as is the ability to manage documentation and maintain confidentiality. A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred, and the candidate should have at least five years of extensive construction estimating experience with a proven record of successful bids. A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
