About the Role

The Senior Preconstruction Manager, BESS, leads the preconstruction process for Battery Energy Storage System projects from initial client engagement through contract execution, focusing on developing proposals, assembling project teams across Quanta operating companies and external partners, and aligning with project objectives for projects ranging from 5 MW to 200 MW. • Review RFPs and coordinate resources to decide bid/no‑bid. • Define project requirements, deliverables, and timelines for cost‑competitive proposals. • Lead cross‑functional teams and maintain clear communication throughout proposal development. • Collaborate with supply‑chain and estimating teams to close scope gaps. • Provide technical, regulatory, and design guidance to meet client expectations. • Build and maintain strategic relationships with design partners. • Develop risk‑mitigation and profitability strategies for proposals. • Approve basis of estimate assumptions, inclusions, and exclusions. • Work with legal to assess technical and commercial risks during contract negotiations. • Monitor industry trends, market conditions, and customer drivers. • Support deal structuring and negotiate pricing using business‑value analysis. • Manage responses to BESS‑related RFIs and ensure alignment with organizational capabilities. • Capture post‑award feedback to share best practices across teams. • Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures and execute special projects as assigned.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience). • Minimum 5 years of BESS pre‑construction experience with EPC, IPP, developer or utility. • Deep subject‑matter expertise in utility‑scale BESS projects. • Proven ability to lead and manage cross‑functional teams. • Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills at all organizational levels. • Excellent problem‑solving, analytical and detail‑oriented capabilities. • Superior verbal and written communication proficiency. • Strong organizational and time‑management skills. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. • Ability to travel up to 40 % of the time.
