About the Role

The Senior Project Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager and is responsible for managing all aspects of project accounting and invoicing to ensure accurate, consistent billing. This role reviews project budgets, prepares financial reports, and provides project managers with timely, accurate financial data to support decision‑making. The accountant also supports month‑end close, financial reporting, audit preparation, internal controls, and best‑practice implementation, requiring strong analytical skills and effective collaboration across accounting, finance, and project teams. • Train and mentor junior or staff accountants. • Deliver timely financial reports, budgets, and forecasts to project managers and clients. • Manage Percentage of Completion (POC) calculations and related journal entries. • Review multiple project budgets and monitor job‑cost trends. • Support Cost‑to‑Complete (CTC) processes for project managers. • Analyze financial data for projections and forecasting. • Update contracts per client requirements and process budget amendments. • Execute internal controls to ensure data integrity and regulatory compliance. • Assist with month‑end close and audit preparation. • Perform ad‑hoc analysis and special projects. • Provide general accounting support to team members.

What You Bring

The role requires the ability to sit for extended periods, occasional standing, walking, and lifting up to 15 lb, as well as repetitive motions such as typing. A valid license is required, and the position is located in Sugar Land, Texas. Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent experience) and have five or more years as a Project Accountant or in a similar capacity. Certifications such as CPA or CMA are preferred but not mandatory, and experience with public‑company accounting, ERP systems (especially Microsoft Dynamics), and managing multiple concurrent projects is a plus. • Proficient in ERP/accounting systems; Microsoft Dynamics a plus. • Advanced knowledge of general ledger, job costing, journal entries, and reconciliations. • Extensive experience with project invoicing and billing. • Strong collaboration with project managers and stakeholders. • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. • Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail. • Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment. • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and job‑specific software.
