About the Role
The Specification Writer will develop, revise, and maintain technical specifications and the Manual of Design Criteria, create supporting technical documents for design, construction, contracts, and operations, and prepare policy and procedure documentation. The role also involves maintaining up‑to‑date technical standards, conducting timely technical reviews of draft documents, and performing additional assignments as directed by the Task Manager. • Develop, revise, and maintain technical specifications and the Manual of Design Criteria. • Create technical documents supporting design, construction, contracts, and operations for capital and non‑capital projects. • Prepare policy and procedure documentation. • Maintain organized, up‑to‑date technical standards. • Conduct timely technical reviews of draft documents.

What You Bring
The company is seeking a highly talented Specification Writer to support the production of specifications and integrate them into construction documents. The role is part of the Critical Infrastructure team, which designs and delivers projects that improve community quality of life, mobility, and sustainability, contributing to both capital and non‑capital rail transit projects. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field and have at least ten years of overall experience, including five years writing technical specifications for rail transit projects. Required skills include collaborative work across departments, advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, clear professional writing, and knowledge of rail transit design standards, safety, and OSHA regulations. Preferred qualifications are a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect license and Certified Construction Specifier certification. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field. • Have at least ten years of experience, including five years in rail transit specification writing. • Demonstrate advanced proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications. • Write clearly and professionally, delivering communications quickly. • Understand rail transit design standards, safety and security regulations, and OSHA policies. • Preferred: Professional Engineer (PE) license or Registered Architect (RA) credential; Certified Construction Specifier.
