About the Role
The Maintenance Technician B works under the guidance of a Lead Technician, Maintenance Supervisor, or Maintenance Manager to perform repair and maintenance on diesel and non‑diesel equipment and trucks. Duties include work on chassis components, refuse bodies, control systems, hydraulics, air brakes, engines, HVAC, suspension, drivetrain, and steering. The role also involves basic tire services such as replacement, rotation, and tread checks. Employees benefit from servicing a single, modern fleet of technically advanced vehicles. Technicians must maintain proficiency with a wide range of vehicle systems, performing preventative and corrective maintenance both on‑site and on the road. Responsibilities cover chassis repairs, refuse body hydraulics and electrics, engine work, suspension, drivetrain, steering, heating, air conditioning, and line‑maintenance welding and fabrication. They provide safe road service, diagnose malfunctions using electronic tools, and complete required company training. What You Bring
Candidates need at least one year of hands‑on experience diagnosing and repairing gasoline and diesel equipment, or be graduating from an accredited automotive program within three months. A basic understanding of work‑order labor standards and familiarity with Classes 1‑5 and 7‑8 trucks, aircraft, or ships is required. ASE certifications, a Commercial Driver’s License, and a valid driver’s license are preferred but not mandatory.
