About the Role

We are accountable for delivering building services engineering—including mechanical, electrical, ventilation and specialist systems—while liaising with the client, main contractor and consultants. This involves providing engineering expertise, developing technical strategies for high‑quality, time‑efficient and profitable delivery, ensuring compliance, governance and assurance, and managing and coaching technical staff. The successful candidate will lead MEP engineering aspects, support programme management, health, safety, quality and commissioning, and work collaboratively with stakeholders to drive technical planning, design reviews, productivity assessment, project close‑out and continuous improvement, while contributing to net‑zero carbon goals. • Lead MEP engineering aspects within project teams, ensuring compliance with Mace standards. • Accountable for MEP services engineering and support programme, health, safety, quality and commissioning. • Liaise and coordinate with clients, consultants, trade contractors and internal stakeholders. • Provide technical support during tendering and contribute to procurement strategies. • Review contracts, scope, value engineering and support commercial teams throughout the project lifecycle. • Create and deploy project technical plans aligned with Mace frameworks, including prefabrication, commissioning and safety. • Conduct design reviews for compliance, coordination, embodied carbon and operational energy. • Develop and implement commissioning strategies following Mace standards. • Perform productivity assessments using digital technologies and manage risk mitigation. • Manage project close‑out, delivering commissioning, as‑built drawings, O&M manuals and client training. • Support net‑zero carbon transition by identifying and managing carbon emissions. • Coach and manage technical staff teams.

What You Bring

Advanced knowledge of engineering systems, design standards, installation techniques, prefabrication and commissioning is required, together with proficient understanding of construction sequencing, planning processes, commercial management and health & safety practices. The role demands strong stakeholder management, clear communication, analytical ability and leadership competencies, including motivating teams, making decisions under pressure and taking ownership of problems and challenges. Candidates must hold a relevant engineering qualification or equivalent training, possess SMSTS and CSCS cards, and ideally be members of professional bodies such as CIBSE, IET, IMechE or SoPHE. • Advanced knowledge of engineering systems, design standards, prefabrication and commissioning. • Proficient in construction sequencing, planning, commercial management and health & safety. • Experience delivering MEP projects exceeding £25 million in value. • Relevant engineering degree or equivalent with formal training (HNC/HND/BTEC) and SMSTS/CSCS cards. • Membership of professional bodies such as CIBSE, IET, IMechE or SoPHE. • Strong stakeholder management, communication, analytical and leadership skills. • Ability to work flexibly, including part‑time, hybrid or remote arrangements.
