Assistant Staff Restoration Ecologist
Field-based ecological surveys and restoration work across Nevada sites

About the Role
The position involves conducting botanical and other biological surveys on construction and remote sites, often requiring irregular hours, overnight travel, and work in demanding weather and terrain. Travel accommodations such as a field truck, per diem, and lodging are provided, and candidates must pass client‑specific drug and alcohol screening. • Conduct botanical, weed, succulent, vegetation, and pollinator surveys on site. • Perform additional biological field studies as required. • Use maps, GPS, and aerial imagery to pinpoint habitats and project areas. • Photograph and record species, habitats, and landforms; enter and proof field data. • Oversee soil and plant treatment during construction and post‑construction restoration. • Coordinate with project managers, inspectors, construction staff, and SWCA team. • Follow safety protocols, identify hazards, and communicate mitigation. • Operate 4‑WD vehicles, ATVs/UTVs, and drive on rugged backcountry roads. • Supervise small crews during cultural fieldwork, assign tasks, and provide feedback. • Identify Nevada plant species and record detailed field notes. • Use digital tablets for GPS navigation and field data collection. • Meet physical demands: walk up to 10 miles/day, carry ~40 lb gear, work in adverse weather.

What You Bring
• Work independently and as part of a team, taking initiative to solve problems. • Hold an A.A. or B.S. in a relevant environmental science field (preferred). • Possess up to one year of ecological restoration and field‑survey experience. • Maintain a valid driver’s license and ability to operate 4WD vehicles.
