About the Role

The Regional Operations Manager – HVAC is accountable for leading and overseeing a skilled trades team that specializes in HVAC, refrigeration, and mechanical building systems. This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of maintenance, repair, and project work throughout the assigned region while emphasizing operational excellence, service performance, and client satisfaction. In the people leadership capacity, the manager directs a regional team of mechanical tradespeople, provides hands‑on technical guidance, and manages all aspects of employee engagement, training, performance, hiring, retention, and compensation recommendations. The role also enforces strict health‑and‑safety standards specific to HVAC work, conducts regular toolbox talks, and maintains up‑to‑date knowledge of HVAC regulations, building codes, and refrigerant compliance. Operational responsibilities include overseeing HVAC and mechanical budgets, planning resource deployment for service calls, preventive maintenance, capital projects, and emergency response, and ensuring work orders are completed on schedule. The manager drives performance through proactive maintenance, root‑cause analysis, and collaboration with internal stakeholders to develop HVAC‑specific processes, standards, and technology enhancements that improve reliability and energy efficiency. • Lead and manage a regional team of skilled HVAC and mechanical tradespeople. • Provide hands‑on technical guidance on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. • Oversee employee engagement, training, performance management, hiring, and retention. • Enforce health and safety standards, including lockout/tagout, refrigerant handling, and confined spaces. • Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety briefings focused on mechanical hazards. • Maintain current knowledge of HVAC regulations, building codes, and refrigerant compliance. • Manage HVAC and mechanical operations budgets, tracking labor, materials, and subcontractor costs. • Plan and deploy resources to support service calls, preventive programs, capital projects, and emergencies. • Ensure work orders and projects are completed on time and within budget. • Drive operational performance through proactive maintenance and root‑cause analysis of failures. • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and refine HVAC processes and standards. • Recommend and implement technologies, tools, and CMMS enhancements to improve reliability and energy efficiency. • Partner with dispatch and CMMS teams to optimize service scheduling and resource utilization. • Investigate and resolve operational issues quickly to maintain client confidence. • Act as subject‑matter expert for HVAC and mechanical systems within the region. • Support client discussions on system performance, asset condition, and lifecycle planning. • Increase self‑perform HVAC work and improve preventive maintenance compliance. • Deliver high‑quality HVAC services aligned with BGIS safety and operational standards. • Develop and implement HVAC‑specific processes, SOPs, and maintenance programs.

What You Bring

The position requires a community college diploma or equivalent training and 5–10 years of progressive HVAC or mechanical trades experience, with at least five years in a supervisory role. Candidates must possess strong technical expertise in HVAC systems, refrigeration, chillers, boilers, air handling units, and building automation, as well as extensive knowledge of related codes and safety regulations. Effective leadership, budgeting, process development, stakeholder management, and high proficiency with CMMS platforms are essential, and relevant trade certifications are considered assets. • Possess 5–10 years of HVAC or mechanical trades experience, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role. • Demonstrate strong technical expertise in HVAC systems, refrigeration, chillers, boilers, and building automation. • Show deep knowledge of HVAC codes, regulations, and safety requirements. • Exhibit strong leadership, budgeting, planning, and performance management abilities. • Utilize CMMS platforms effectively and possess high computer proficiency. • Hold relevant trade certifications such as Journeyman Refrigeration License or Gas Fitter Certification.
