About the Role
The role is for a Principal CAD Technician within the Energy Networks division, leading a team of two assistant technicians and an apprentice. The position focuses on civil 3D modelling for power generation, HV sub‑stations, HVDC converters and cable projects, delivering work from planning through construction on major UK transmission projects. • Supervise a team of two assistant technicians and one apprentice. • Deliver civil‑3D models for earthworks, alignments, corridors and assemblies. • Balance cut‑ and fill‑volumes and perform stage storage analysis. • Produce plan and longitudinal sectional drawings. • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues. • Contribute to development of Civil 3D standards, methods and template improvements. • Manage workload autonomously and mentor junior staff. • Participate in employee‑ownership model with profit‑sharing bonuses and ownership pathways.

What You Bring
Candidates must possess strong proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D, a keen interest in 3D design, the ability to work autonomously in a dynamic environment and experience mentoring junior staff. Desirable experience includes Autodesk Navisworks Manage, Autodesk Construction Cloud, familiarity with UK sector and industry modelling standards, and qualifications such as EngTech TMICE. • Demonstrate expert proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D. • Show strong interest in 3D design and immersive modelling. • Experience with Autodesk Navisworks Manage and Autodesk Construction Cloud (desirable). • Familiarity with UK sector standards and industry modelling conventions (desirable). • Hold EngTech TMICE or equivalent qualification (desirable).
