About the Role
This role oversees the refurbishment and remodelling of an existing building inside a live prison environment, guiding the project from early design through construction delivery. The client‑facing position is partly site‑based and involves managing wider consultant teams, project stakeholders and the project team to deliver successful outcomes as part of a larger programme of new prisoner places. As Project Manager you will lead delivery by building strong relationships with clients, colleagues and supply‑chain members. • Determine required project management, technical services and external resources. • Deliver project objectives according to the execution plan and lead the team to meet KPIs. • Monitor health, safety and wellbeing throughout all project stages. • Prepare, update and maintain project plans. • Oversee timelines and budgets, highlighting risks, challenges and mitigations. • Ensure robust quality systems are in place, managed and monitored. • Organise meetings, provide analysis, conduct site walks and record outcomes. • Partner with stakeholders on risk management. • Coordinate communication among all parties and maintain appropriate records. • Document and track project changes as needed. • Support net‑zero carbon transition by managing associated emissions.

What You Bring

The role provides experience in delivering projects from early design to construction, meeting defined time, cost, technical performance and quality requirements while managing governance and assurance tools. The position involves hybrid working with a minimum of monthly site visits during design and 2‑3 days a week on‑site during construction; EL1 vetting clearances are required and the site is located in Devises, with a local Mace office in Bristol. • Prior project management experience (or equivalent). • Membership or progression toward MCIOB, MAPM, MRICS, or local equivalent. • Tertiary qualification in project management, construction or related discipline, or equivalent experience. • Valid CSCS card or equivalent construction skills certification. • Proven experience managing small to medium‑sized projects. • Strong communication, presentation and negotiation skills. • Expertise in budget oversight and financial management. • Advanced ability to coordinate activities and collaborate with stakeholders. • Solid understanding of project management methodologies and practices.
