About the Role
The Attorney at AAON provides legal counsel across corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters, ensuring compliance and mitigating legal risks while supporting business operations and strategic initiatives. The role works closely with internal departments, external counsel, and regulatory bodies to protect company interests and facilitate informed decision‑making. Reporting to AAON leadership, the attorney advises operational teams on contracts, employment law, intellectual property, and corporate governance, taking a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating legal risks. Responsibilities also include managing litigation, overseeing regulatory filings, and supporting mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions. • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including vendor, customer, and licensing agreements. • Provide legal advice on employment matters such as hiring practices, terminations, and workplace policies. • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, including OSHA, EPA, and HVAC industry regulations. • Manage and coordinate external counsel on litigation and specialized legal matters. • Support intellectual property protection, including trademarks, patents, and trade secrets. • Advise on corporate governance, board matters, and internal policies. • Assist with legal aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions. • Conduct legal training for internal teams on compliance and risk management. • Monitor changes in laws and regulations affecting the HVAC and manufacturing sectors.

What You Bring
The position requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and an active Oklahoma law license (or ability to obtain one promptly). Preferred experience includes manufacturing, HVAC, or industrial sectors and certifications in compliance or corporate law. Candidates must possess strong knowledge of contract, employment, and regulatory compliance, along with excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills. They should be able to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast‑paced environment, be familiar with legal issues specific to manufacturing and HVAC, and proficient in legal research tools and Microsoft Office. The role demands critical thinking, attention to detail, and effective verbal and written communication, with frequent use of computers and standard office equipment. The attorney will primarily work at AAON’s corporate headquarters in Tulsa, OK, with occasional travel to manufacturing sites or external meetings, and may work extended hours during critical projects.
