About the Role
The specialist will implement and maintain Configuration Management (CM) functions for assigned projects and products, ensuring consistent application of CM principles and change‑control processes throughout the project lifecycle. Key duties include establishing CM baselines, performing functional, physical, and software configuration audits, managing PLM system implementation and training, and providing technical leadership and problem‑solving support. The role also involves coordinating with subcontractors, preparing cost and risk estimates, and contributing to continuous improvement of CM procedures and tools. • Implement and maintain the Configuration Management (CM) system for assigned projects/products. • Ensure consistent information in the CM system across the project lifecycle and locations. • Analyze contractual CM requirements, prepare cost/time estimates, and identify associated risks. • Develop and execute CM plans, covering identification, control, status accounting, verification, and audits. • Manage PLM system implementation, customization, data loading, and end‑user training. • Provide technical leadership, solve complex problems, and coach team members on CM practices. • Conduct Functional, Physical, and Software Configuration Audits and verify software builds. • Define and maintain CM baselines (FBL, ABL, PBL) and create Product Breakdown Structures. • Specify CM requirements to subcontractors, monitor compliance, and liaise with Hitachi Rail CM personnel. • Drive continuous improvement of CM procedures, tools, and organizational change.

What You Bring
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and have at least five years of hands‑on experience in monitoring systems or software/hardware development within a CM context. Required competencies include deep knowledge of CM practices, familiarity with version‑control and reporting tools, strong analytical and interpersonal skills, and effective communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Preferred experience includes working with PLM platforms such as Windchill or Palma, a background in the railway industry or complex system development, and proficiency with tools like Microsoft Access, Visual Studio, DOORS, ClearCase/GIT, ClearQuest/JIRA, or SAP. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent. • Minimum 5 years of experience in CM for systems/software/hardware development. • Strong knowledge of CM principles, practices, and tools. • Experience with version‑control and problem‑reporting tools. • Excellent problem‑solving, organizational, and interpersonal skills. • Effective written and verbal communication for technical and non‑technical audiences. • Experience with PLM systems (e.g., Windchill, Palma) preferred. • Railway industry background or complex system development experience. • Familiarity with Microsoft Access, Visual Studio, DOORS, ClearCase/GIT, ClearQuest/JIRA, SAP.
