About the Role
The buyer will develop and manage supplier relationships to meet cost, availability, and inventory objectives, negotiate pricing and contracts, and benchmark supplier costs against the competition. They will troubleshoot recurring quality issues, lead product‑team problem‑solving sessions, and maintain supplier quality and delivery through continuous monitoring. Additionally, the buyer will support engineering, sales, and production with delivery data, maintain accurate part and purchase‑order records, and resolve pricing, invoicing, and contract issues. • Negotiate pricing, terms, and annual contracts for generator‑set commodities and other supplies. • Evaluate and benchmark supplier cost data against market competitors. • Resolve recurring quality problems by collaborating with suppliers and leading cross‑functional product teams. • Maintain supplier quality, delivery performance, and ongoing monitoring through assessments. • Provide engineering, sales, and production teams with accurate supplier delivery and open‑order information. • Ensure accurate part and purchase‑order data integrity within SAP. • Address pricing, invoicing, and contractual issues promptly with suppliers. • Coordinate with order management, accounting, and quality departments on part‑related queries. • Travel occasionally to supplier sites to understand commodity processes. • Apply safety and environmental procedures and promote compliance with the Rolls‑Royce Code of Conduct.

What You Bring
Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, Materials Management, or Business Finance, plus at least three years of procurement‑related experience (or seven years without the degree). Required skills include strong negotiation, interpersonal abilities, knowledge of purchasing policies, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP. Preferred experience includes global commodity management, problem‑solving, manufacturing or power‑generation exposure, and knowledge of warehouse and inventory control. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, Materials Management, or Business Finance (or equivalent experience). • Minimum 3 years of procurement, material management, or supply‑chain analysis experience (7 years if no degree). • Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP. • Knowledge of purchasing policies, warehouse, and inventory control procedures. • Experience managing global commodities across multiple locations. • Problem‑solving expertise in manufacturing or power‑generation environments.
