About the Role

As a Fiber Splicer, you will be responsible for producing end‑to‑end fiber optic networks, testing and troubleshooting continuity, and operating all relevant testing equipment. You will prep splice enclosures from manufacturers such as Tyco, CommScope, and Corning, and utilize fusion splicers, OTDRs, DWDM/CWDM, OLTS, power meters, and other tools. Your work will involve outdoor utility construction sites and require a strong understanding of fiber design, documentation, light levels, and dB loss. • Test and troubleshoot fiber optic network continuity using OTDR, OLTS, and power meters • Operate fusion splicers and prep splice enclosures (Tyco, CommScope, Corning, etc.) • Prepare OSP cables (96–1728 count) including mid‑span and ring cuts on active networks • Accurately document work for billing and 3GIS records • Perform work on outdoor utility construction sites with a safety‑first focus • Mentor and coach team members on splicing techniques

The role requires extensive experience with outside plant fiber networks, including interpreting prints, splicing, and troubleshooting, as well as familiarity with OTDR and OLTS testing. Candidates will also handle prepping OSP cables ranging from 96 to 1728 counts, including mid‑span and ring cuts on active networks, while ensuring accurate documentation for billing and 3GIS records. Ideal candidates prioritize safety daily, have a track record of high‑quality work, and possess at least three years of fiber splicing and troubleshooting experience.
