About the Role
The Quality Inspector reports to the site Quality Manager or Quality Field Operations Manager and indirectly to the Sr. Manager of Quality Control. The role is responsible for conducting and documenting inspections according to approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), producing accurate, legible, and traceable reports with minimal errors. Effective communication and positive relationships with owners, their representatives, and site supervision are essential to achieve quality objectives. • Conduct and document inspections in line with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs). • Ensure inspection reports are accurate, legible, and traceable to field locations. • Review construction plans and specifications to identify errors or conflicts. • Lead regular QA/QC meetings, maintain logs of deficiencies and punch lists, and record minutes. • Prepare and submit detailed inspection activity reports. • Schedule inspections with local, state, and federal agencies and third‑party testers. • Distinguish between project specifications and standard codes, escalating non‑compliant items. • Consult the Director of Quality for issues beyond scope of expertise. • Maintain professional appearance and stay current on job‑related certifications. • Write clear reports and business correspondence on quality matters. • Communicate effectively with owners, representatives, project managers, and site personnel. • Apply critical thinking to develop corrective actions for quality incidents. • Handle quality and safety concerns diplomatically with internal and external parties. • Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 lb, climbing, and working at heights while wearing PPE.

What You Bring
Key responsibilities include familiarity with a broad range of construction processes—testing laboratory protocols, soils and concrete testing, asphalt paving, structural steel, mechanical, welding, and general observations. The inspector ensures QC documentation is complete, reads and interprets plans to flag errors, leads regular QA/QC meetings, maintains logs of deficiencies and punch lists, prepares inspection reports, schedules inspections with agencies and third‑party testers, differentiates project specifications from standard codes, and consults the Director of Quality for escalated issues while maintaining a professional demeanor and up‑to‑date certifications. Qualifications require a minimum of one year in a QA/QC role (or equivalent engineering/technical education) and at least five years of construction experience. Candidates must have training in construction trades, extreme proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams, PowerPoint), experience with construction management software, proven skills in Bluebeam Revu, and preferably familiarity with Smartsheet and InEight. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and applicable codes, can write clear reports and business correspondence, present information to stakeholders, and develop positive working relationships with owners, representatives, and site supervision. They should work independently, be self‑motivated, apply critical thinking to corrective actions, handle quality and safety issues diplomatically, and possess excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Physical demands include up to 12‑hour shifts involving hard physical work in varying temperatures and weather conditions. The role may require lifting up to 50 lb, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and working at heights while wearing required PPE. Employees must have good visual and hearing acuity, balance, and the ability to coordinate eye‑hand‑foot movements in confined or uneven areas. • Minimum 1 year QA/QC experience (or engineering/technical education) and 5 years construction experience. • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and construction management software (Bluebeam Revu; preferred Smartsheet, InEight). • Knowledge of MIC Health and Safety programs and applicable construction codes. • Work independently, self‑motivated, and take initiative on quality tasks. • Adhere to a 12‑hour shift schedule, up to 50 hours/week, with travel up to 100% to project sites.
