About the Role
The Plant Maintenance Technician monitors and maintains all plant systems and equipment, including balers, conveyor belts, gearboxes, electrical motors, pulleys, shafts, and bearings. The role responds to system failures by performing or assigning corrective repairs to ensure safe and efficient operation, and reports to the Plant Maintenance Manager. Core duties involve performing repairs in compliance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules and OSHA regulations, and conducting preventive maintenance inspections on major equipment such as balers, conveyors, hydraulic power packs, eddy currents, optical sorters, compressors, and building equipment. The technician maintains the Daily Equipment Inspection (DEI) backlog, adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules, and notifies the Senior Plant Maintenance Manager when additional work is required or when repairs exceed Standard Repair Times. They also inspect the quality of third‑party repairs, recommend improvements to production and equipment performance, and multitask across multiple priorities. Emergency breakdown service calls are handled with limited supervision, and a clean, safe work area is maintained in line with corporate and OSHA standards. • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on balers, conveyors, gearboxes, motors, pumps, and other plant equipment following WM Safety and OSHA standards. • Conduct daily equipment inspections (DEI) and manage the inspection backlog. • Adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and report issues that exceed Standard Repair Times. • Inspect third‑party repairs and recommend improvements to production, equipment performance, and product quality. • Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform service calls with limited supervision. • Work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, in both indoor plant and outdoor weather conditions. • Maintain a clean, safe work area complying with corporate and OSHA standards.

What You Bring
Required qualifications include at least two years of relevant experience, being 18 years of age or older, legal eligibility to work in the United States, and the ability to meet the physical demands of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
