About the Role

The Senior Structural Engineer serves as a technical authority in structural engineering, leads project planning and design activities, oversees medium to large multidisciplinary teams, and may act as Project Manager on larger initiatives while also handling additional duties as needed. • Serve as a technical expert with recognized authority in structural engineering, resolving complex problems. • Plan and develop projects or design activities. • Organize and supervise medium to large teams of professionals and technicians. • Act as Project Manager on larger projects (though not the sole focus).

What You Bring

Preferred qualifications include a master’s degree in Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis. Required qualifications consist of a bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering, at least ten years of building‑design experience, a professional engineering license (PE or P.Eng), proficiency with industry software such as AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, and SAFE, strong design and detailing skills across steel, concrete, masonry, and wood, and an understanding of gravity and lateral analysis. Prior experience in an architectural, engineering, or consulting firm and a commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture are also essential. • Master’s degree in Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis (preferred). • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. • Minimum of 10 years of structural engineering experience in building design. • Professional engineering license (PE or P.Eng) for the job location. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or comparable analytical software. • Experience in design calculations, layouts, and detailing steel, concrete, masonry, and wood. • Understanding of gravity and lateral analysis. • Prior experience in an architectural/engineering or consulting firm.
