About the Role

The manager will oversee project administration such as document control, procurement, DBE/ADA compliance, and risk management, while developing scopes, negotiating contracts, and supervising engineering design activities. They will coordinate schedules and budgets, foster long‑term client relationships, collaborate with HDR’s national transit practice, and mentor staff, ensuring compliance with standards and QA/QC procedures. • Lead multidisciplinary transit projects (bus, BRT, light rail, commuter rail, etc.) from planning through construction. • Oversee project administration including document control, procurement, DBE/ADA compliance, and risk management. • Develop scopes, negotiate contracts, and supervise engineering design activities. • Manage project schedules, budgets, and financial tracking to ensure delivery within scope. • Coordinate with clients, governmental agencies, and partners to align stakeholder expectations. • Mentor project teams and implement QA/QC procedures for high‑quality delivery. • Contribute to business development through proposals, client engagement, and contract negotiations.

What You Bring

Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s (or Master’s) degree in Civil Engineering, PMP certification, a Professional Engineer license, ten years of transit engineering experience, and at least five years leading multidisciplinary transit projects. Experience with public transportation agencies, FTA funding, rail or BRT corridor design, cost control, and local candidate preference are valued. Required qualifications are a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, ten years of relevant experience, a minimum of five years in project management, a professional engineering license, and proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, and optionally Access. Demonstrated leadership, business development, strategic planning skills, and a commitment to HDR’s employee‑owned culture are essential. • Hold a Bachelor’s (or Master’s) in Civil Engineering, PE license, and PMP certification (preferred). • Provide at least 10 years of transit engineering experience and 5+ years managing complex projects. • Demonstrate strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills with ability to travel across North America.
