About the Role

The engineer will join cross‑functional teams to deliver signaling and Positive Train Control (PTC) designs for multiple concurrent Amtrak and Northeast Corridor projects. Responsibilities include developing concepts, technical designs, specifications, and cost estimates while adhering to standards and sound engineering practice. The role also supports business development, participates in WSP’s quality assurance process, and assists with contract negotiations, client presentations, and project meetings. The engineer is expected to exercise ethical decision‑making and adapt to changing project demands. • Contribute to multidisciplinary teams delivering signaling and PTC designs for Amtrak and Northeast Corridor projects. • Develop signaling concepts, technical designs, specifications, and cost estimates in compliance with standards. • Stay current on the latest signal engineering techniques and practices. • Support business development initiatives and proposal preparation. • Participate in WSP’s quality assurance process for all deliverables. • Assist with technical aspects of contract negotiations, client presentations, and meetings. • Engage with clients and colleagues to resolve project challenges and achieve satisfactory outcomes. • Uphold ethical decision‑making and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies. • Provide critical reviews of complex technical documents and deliver high‑quality plans. • Apply strong critical‑thinking and problem‑solving to identify economical technical solutions. • Maintain a proven safety record and comply with health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, have at least five years of experience with signaling and PTC systems on Amtrak or similar railroads, and possess strong written and interpersonal communication skills. Additional attributes include critical‑thinking, problem‑solving, a proven safety record, flexibility in schedule, and immediate availability to work in the United States. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering (or related field) and at least five years of signaling/PTC experience. • Demonstrate advanced written communication and effective interpersonal skills for diverse audiences. • Exhibit flexibility to adjust schedules, prioritize tasks, and adapt to pressure environments. • Preferred: master’s degree in engineering and professional licensure/certification.
