About the Role

The position involves creating detailed design documents, electrical layouts, schematics, calculations, and one‑line diagrams, as well as preparing specifications, cost estimates, and proposals. The engineer will work daily with multidisciplinary teams across the firm and will help mentor junior staff to grow the practice. • Lead design and analysis of electrical systems for renewable generation, energy storage, and utility‑scale substations. • Produce design documents, electrical layouts, equipment schematics, system calculations, and one‑line diagrams. • Collaborate daily with multidisciplinary teams across Kimley‑Horn offices. • Prepare project specifications, construction cost estimates, and proposals to expand service offerings. • Mentor and train junior engineers to grow the Power Delivery practice. • Develop electrical design plans, select equipment, size solar systems, and conduct power analyses.

What You Bring

Kimley‑Horn’s Raleigh, North Carolina office is hiring an Electrical Engineer with at least four years of experience to join its Power Delivery team. The role is on‑site and focuses on designing and analyzing electrical systems for renewable generation, energy storage, and utility‑scale substations. • Possess at least 4 years of electrical engineering experience and a bachelor’s degree in EE. • Hold a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or be able to obtain it within 12 months. • Knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards. • Willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings. • Experience with utility‑scale substation, PV, wind, energy storage, EV charging, microgrid, or data‑center projects (preferred). • Proficiency in AutoCAD, power system analysis tools (SKM, ETAP), transient study software (PSCAD, EMTP‑RV), lighting design (AGI32), and programming in Python or MATLAB (preferred).
