About the Role

The Superintendent 1 plans, manages, and executes all aspects of assigned projects, overseeing material, equipment, and people while ensuring complete documentation and meeting project goals for timely, profitable completion. This role aligns with JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values. Key duties include leading the safety culture, managing subcontractors and onsite workflow, developing work plans, coordinating site control, and running daily and weekly meetings. The superintendent also creates and adjusts schedules, tracks budgets, communicates with owners and design teams, handles documentation, manages material and equipment procurement, ensures quality compliance, and supports project closeout activities. • Lead and promote an injury‑free safety culture on the job site. • Manage subcontractors, suppliers, and internal staff to coordinate workflow. • Develop and adjust work plans and project schedules in partnership with the Project Manager. • Conduct daily stand‑up and weekly trade meetings; participate in progress and OAC meetings. • Track and monitor project budgets and costs using the project management system. • Communicate key project information to owners, design teams, authorities, and vendors. • Maintain accurate project documentation, including drawings, logs, diaries, and inspection records. • Oversee material and equipment procurement, supporting MOC and DLSC processes. • Ensure quality compliance through specifications, QA/QC standards, and inspections. • Supervise pre‑punch activities and coordinate project closeout with stakeholders. • Assist in staffing, recruitment, and talent retention for the project team. • Promote diversity, inclusion, and non‑discrimination throughout the organization. • Apply lean construction principles and knowledge of trade scopes to improve productivity.

What You Bring

The position requires strong communication skills, proficiency in MS Office, project management and accounting software, and scheduling tools, as well as knowledge of construction management fundamentals, lean processes, and specific trades. Ability to build relationships, manage budgets, and apply contract terms is essential, along with a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Applicants need a high school diploma or GED, with a bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering preferred, plus at least three years of construction experience and one year of field supervision. The role may involve lifting up to 50 lb, travel, non‑traditional hours, and exposure to extreme conditions.
