About the Role
The Recycling Center Maintenance Technician performs repairs and maintenance on recycling equipment, compact heavy equipment, and light trucks to maximize safe and productive operations. Typical repairs include routine maintenance of hydraulic systems, sorting screens, optical sorters, magnets, eddy currents, electrical systems, balers, conveyor systems, and compactors. The technician diagnoses mechanical problems using charts, diagnostic software, technical manuals, and expertise, then repairs and maintains a wide range of equipment. Duties include fixing hydraulic systems, transmissions, engines, electrical components, and conveyor systems, as well as replacing parts according to work orders and completing field service reports. Preventative maintenance is performed on a set schedule, and daily consumables reports record hours, fuel, and oil usage for fleet management. The role also involves installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing, electrical, HVAC, odor, and negative pressure systems, and setting up new equipment while coordinating with vendors. • Diagnose mechanical problems using charts, diagnostic software, and technical manuals. • Perform repairs and maintenance on recycling equipment, heavy equipment, and light trucks. • Complete work orders, field service reports, and daily consumables logs. • Conduct preventative maintenance and overhaul or replace machine components. • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing, electrical, HVAC, odor, and negative pressure systems. • Program and troubleshoot simple PLC instructions to improve plant performance. • Follow all safety policies and coordinate with vendors and equipment operators.

What You Bring
Simple PLC instructions are read, troubleshooted, and programmed to enhance plant monitoring and performance as needed. All work follows company safety policies, and additional duties may be assigned as required. Candidates must have at least one year of experience with building maintenance, HVAC, odor, and negative pressure systems, and three years working on equipment in a manufacturing or distribution environment. Required knowledge includes Tier 4 emission systems, welding or fabrication, PLC programming, a valid driver’s license, and certifications in mechanical trades or electronic diagnostics.
