About the Role

In this position you will support multiple projects and client accounts simultaneously, reporting to a senior member of the Development Team. You will be responsible for delivering concept studies, transport assessments, travel plans and related analyses, and for ensuring projects meet budget, programme, technical and legal requirements. Collaboration with clients, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary design teams will be essential to achieve high‑quality outcomes. • Deliver concept studies, transport statements, assessments, travel plans, parking, access and movement studies leading to planning applications. • Provide proactive leadership to maintain collaborative relationships with clients, colleagues and staff. • Establish and maintain high‑level client service and technical competence. • Stay current with standards and policies; promote WSP through networking and conferences. • Guide and support junior technical staff, mentoring use of junction modelling software (e.g., Junctions 9, PICADY, ARCADY, Linsig). • Engage with clients, stakeholders and design teams, managing projects to budget, schedule, technical and legal standards.

What You Bring

We are looking for candidates with a numerate degree in Transport, Mathematics, Geography, Civil Engineering, Planning or a related subject, and substantial experience delivering transport planning projects across development planning, scheme delivery, sustainable transport, active travel and junction design. Strong client‑facing skills, written communication, knowledge of transport planning guidance and proficiency with junction modelling software are essential. The role also requires financial and programme management experience, line‑management capability and a robust understanding of contractual aspects of planning and delivery. Near‑Chartership or equivalent postgraduate experience is desirable. • Hold a numerate degree in Transport, Mathematics, Geography, Civil Engineering, Planning or a related discipline. • Demonstrated experience as a lead client contact and building strong client relationships. • Strong written communication and presentation skills for development proposals. • In‑depth knowledge of transport planning guidance, best practice and relevant standards. • Experience delivering diverse transport planning projects, including sustainable transport, active travel and junction design. • Proficiency with junction modelling tools and ability to mentor others. • High numeracy, problem‑solving ability and innovative thinking. • Proven financial and programme management of projects using business tools. • Experience in line management and day‑to‑day team leadership. • Understanding of financial and contractual aspects of planning, bidding and project delivery. • Near‑Chartership or equivalent postgraduate experience.
