About the Role
The Head Golf Professional will manage the Golf Operations Department, working closely with the Director of Agronomy and other Department Heads. The position promotes an exceptional club member golf experience and provides creative services and programs for all members and guests. It is a strategic leadership role overseeing golf operations, retail, player development, and administration, contributing to the overall Discovery Land Company experience for members and employees. • Oversee tee time reservation, starting, monitoring, and pace of play. • Track and verify all players and guests, green fees, golf cars, club care, and other charges, facilitating accurate accounting and recordkeeping. • Oversee golf car fleet while ensuring proper maintenance and recordkeeping. • Ensure proper storage, safety, and cleaning of golf equipment. • Oversee operations of a well‑managed practice facility. • Provide professional club repair and club fitting services. • Administer the Rules of Golf and educate staff. • Plan and conduct group lesson programs and clinics for juniors, ladies, and beginners. • Promote and provide Rules of Golf clinics to the membership. • Oversee retail merchandise concession aligned with the golf operation mission. • Oversee development of buying plans and all golf‑related purchasing. • Establish accurate recordkeeping policies and procedures. • Supervise and train all golf shop staff to maximize sales opportunities. • Ensure the member database tracks important dates, spending, sizes, and preferences. • Maintain an attractive and orderly appearance in and around the golf shop. • Develop, provide, and oversee an enhanced golf instruction program offering individual and group clinics for all levels, ensuring well‑trained professional instructors are available. • Develop and oversee player development programs. • Responsible for the financial and operational performance of the golf shop operations and golf services. • Assist in budget development and preparation, including forecasting and review of revenues and expenses on a daily, weekly, monthly, and annual basis. • Ensure systems controls are in place to safeguard assets, revenues, and resources. • Maintain a close working relationship with the Golf Course Superintendent and advise on course playability and tournament setup. • Coordinate plans with the Food and Beverage Manager for food and beverage needs for all golf functions. • Develop and manage innovative tournaments, events, and clinics serving all member types.

What You Bring
• Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Sports Management, Recreation) is a plus. • Active PGA or LPGA membership with at least five years of experience as a Golf Professional; comparable experience may substitute. • Extensive knowledge of golf rules, etiquette, and teaching methods, with a passion for sharing the game. • Fundamental knowledge of tournament operations. • Proficiency in golf club fitting, equipment maintenance, and golf shop operations. • Fundamental supervisory practices and principles. • Skilled golf ability and professional self‑presentation on the course. • Golf instruction knowledge and teaching abilities. • CPR and First Aid certification preferred. • Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for serving members, guests, and team members. • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays; long hours may be required. • Ability to work effectively in a team environment. • Ability to stay calm and focused during busy periods. • Proficiency in English; additional languages preferred. • Ability to meet physical demands, including working outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and lifting items over fifty pounds.
