About the Role

Light Equipment Operators are responsible for operating a variety of construction equipment—such as bobcats, bulldozers, excavators, front‑end loaders, backhoes, rollers, and graders—to move earth with precision. The role includes performing safety checks, equipment inspections, and assisting with minor repairs, while also supporting other trades during downtime on non‑operating tasks. Key responsibilities include operating construction equipment to move earth, inspecting equipment before and after use, adhering to all safety regulations, following signaler directions when required, and completing equipment inspection paperwork. The operator must also assess the work area for safety hazards and plan equipment operations accordingly. • Operate bobcats, bulldozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, rollers, and graders. • Conduct pre‑ and post‑operation equipment inspections. • Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE. • Accept and act on signaler directions during equipment operation. • Complete equipment inspection paperwork accurately. • Assist other trades during downtime with non‑operating tasks. • Maintain reliable transportation and provide necessary tools.

Candidates must have at least two years of experience as a dirt equipment operator and possess the required knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below. A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the necessary tools are required, and the position may involve overtime with proper notification. Essential knowledge includes proficiency with multiple types of construction equipment, basic mechanical skills for equipment inspection, familiarity with soil types and excavation specifications, and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions reliably. The individual must be accountable, consistent, and able to perform administrative tasks related to equipment use. Physical demands involve prolonged sitting, verbal communication, and the use of arms and hands for signaling, gripping, and manipulating tools. The job may require lifting and moving up to 50 lb, passing a visual acuity test, and wearing required PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, ear protection, respirators, safety vests, gloves, and leather boots. Required personal items include a raincoat and rain boots. • Hold a valid driver’s license and meet motor vehicle record checks. • Possess forklift experience as a required skill. • Demonstrate ability to lift and move up to 50 lb and meet physical requirements.
