About the Role
The position involves managing overall construction activities, coordinating materials, equipment, and inspections, budgeting and forecasting labor and resources, reviewing construction documents for completeness, and maintaining project schedules with three‑week look‑ahead planning. It also includes aligning plans with engineers, developing site utilization strategies, leading pre‑construction planning sessions, supervising crews, coaching personnel, fostering teamwork, and ensuring safety and labor‑relation compliance. • Manage overall construction activities and assign tasks. • Coordinate materials, equipment, and inspections with other departments. • Budget, forecast, and control labor, equipment, and consumables with Project Manager(s). • Review construction documents for completeness and constructability. • Develop and update project schedule and three‑week look‑ahead. • Align plans and specifications with engineers, resolving discrepancies. • Create site utilization plan and determine crew sizes. • Select appropriate formwork systems and equipment. • Lead pre‑construction planning sessions and site meetings. • Supervise work crews and provide performance evaluations. • Coach, mentor, and train foremen and assistant superintendents. • Foster teamwork and ensure crews have necessary resources. • Identify hiring needs and participate in recruitment and termination decisions. • Implement Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety Program. • Manage open‑shop and union labor issues. • Maintain relationships with customers, architects, unions, subcontractors, and visitors. • Optimize site logistics and suggest improvements.

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking an experienced Senior Superintendent I who can interact with staff at all levels in a dynamic environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and professional while maintaining confidentiality. The role requires anticipating problems, critical issues, and opportunities, and creatively solving them to deliver viable solutions for multiple or large, complex construction projects. Candidates should have an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management, or at least ten years of trade experience, complemented by a minimum of 15 years in construction and ten years in supervisory roles. Experience with solar or large industrial power projects, knowledge of construction law, intermediate Microsoft Office skills, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel up to 100% are required, along with legal work authorization in the U.S. without visa sponsorship. • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management, or 10 years trade experience. • Minimum 15 years construction experience, including 10 years in supervisory roles. • Experience with solar or large industrial power projects. • Ability to manage multiple complex projects. • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. • Basic understanding of construction law and business practices. • Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency. • Professional attitude with strong customer service. • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100%. • Authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
