About the Role
The Senior Technical Professional – Field Engineering serves as the principal technical resource for the F/A‑18 engineering Fleet Support Team, overseeing daily aircraft maintenance operations and ensuring timely execution of the F/A‑18 E/F & EA‑18G Service Life Modification (SLM) program and the F/A‑18 C/D High Flight Hour program. This role provides subject‑matter expertise, technical guidance, and program coordination with internal teams and external stakeholders to optimize maintenance execution, inspection quality, and overall aircraft readiness, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational performance. • Lead the F/A‑18 Fleet Support Team Engineering Maintenance Readiness as program advisory lead. • Support the SLM Integrated Product Team and Program Integrators with analytics and coordination of pre‑ and post‑SLM inspections. • Develop technical requirements for Service Life Modifications to improve repair quality and reduce turnaround time. • Manage the F/A‑18 C/D High Flight Hour and E/F Service Life Modification programs toward the 10,000‑hour service‑life goal. • Provide technical advice and problem‑resolution support for service‑life modifications and Life Limited Repairs. • Oversee corrosion identification, mitigation, and data collection to minimize repair growth and accelerate modifications. • Coordinate with NAVAIR PMA‑265, TYCOM, depot personnel, and squadron leadership to execute inspections and ensure compliance. • Assist government assessments of technical sufficiency, quality, and timely delivery of program deliverables. • Contribute to depot tool development and improve Depot Issue Reporting for better data analysis. • Create Focus Area Lists to prioritize high‑impact repair areas and enhance program efficiency. • Advise on acquisition and program‑management challenges related to modification and service‑life extension. • Ensure adherence to CNAF 4790.2 policies, IETMs, and NAVAIR engineering information across all sites. • Participate in continuous process‑improvement initiatives and share best practices. • Conduct comprehensive maintenance inspections and apply technical directives with precision.

What You Bring
Candidates must be U.S. citizens with an active Secret clearance and possess at least 12 years of relevant technical experience. A bachelor’s degree is preferred, though a combination of education and experience that demonstrates mastery of F/A‑18 systems, corrosion mitigation, fleet flight‑line operations, and data analytics is acceptable. The position is based onsite in San Diego, CA, with a salary range of $117,370 to $176,000 and includes a comprehensive benefits package. • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to master mission‑critical software. • Exhibit strong data‑analytics capabilities and expertise with databases such as IETMs, DECKPLATE, MRO, and DIR. • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with internal and external stakeholders.
