About the Role

The regular shift runs from 1 pm to 9 pm, Monday through Friday, with no weekend work, at WM’s repair and maintenance shop located on the Augusta, GA hauling site. Mechanics service trucks and equipment that support more than 20 million WM customers nationwide, using modern tools and procedures to maintain diesel and, at some sites, CNG fleets. Each day you will diagnose, repair and test a variety of systems, ensuring vehicles leave the shop safely and reliably for the community. The role involves frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, crouching, climbing, and constant standing, walking and grasping, with occasional sitting. Workers are regularly exposed to cuts, burns, toxic chemicals, as well as dirt, odors, noise, and extreme weather while operating both inside garages and outdoors. • Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems • Estimate time and material costs for repairs and parts • Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs) • Respond to emergency breakdown service calls • Conduct safety checks on all vehicles • Complete paperwork documenting parts usage and repair times • Assist senior mechanics with project work • Review and address repairs from Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports • Maintain clean, OSHA‑compliant work area

What You Bring

Candidates need at least two years of relevant experience, a valid driver’s license with a clean record, be 18 or older, and be legally authorized to work in the United States. Physical ability to meet job demands and successful completion of a pre‑employment drug screen and physical are also required.
