About the Role

Key duties include safely performing new construction, maintenance, and repair on both energized and de‑energized overhead lines. Responsibilities cover stringing wire, setting poles and anchors, installing transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear, as well as troubleshooting primary and secondary systems and replacing fuses. The lineman must handle high‑voltage equipment with skill, maintain company vehicles and tools, and perform rigorous physical labor such as climbing poles, working at heights, and operating in confined spaces. Additional tasks involve conducting pre‑job briefings, reconductoring jobs, and safely installing and removing PPE, mechanical jumpers, and load‑busting tools. • Perform safe construction, maintenance, and repair of energized and de‑energized overhead lines. • String overhead wire and set poles, anchors, and crossarms. • Install transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, insulators, switches, and switchgear. • Troubleshoot primary and secondary electrical systems and replace transformer fuses. • Conduct pre‑job/tailgate briefings and reconductoring operations. • Work at heights, confined spaces, and climb various structures using appropriate PPE. • Use load‑busting tools, phasing sticks, and perform voltage checks and line phasing. • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good condition. • Inspect rubber goods and personal protective equipment regularly.

What You Bring

The Class B Lineman – Overhead is a semi‑skilled role focused on construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical overhead distribution systems. The position works at various sites and may require out‑of‑state travel based on customer demand. Minimum qualifications include at least five years of recent field experience, the ability to read and communicate fluently in English, and the capability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License permit within 60 days (preferred). Candidates must be able to travel on short notice, lift over 50 lb, inspect rubber goods and PPE, and be willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required. The role demands regular talking and hearing, frequent standing, walking, and use of hands, and the ability to work outdoors in inclement weather and noisy construction sites. Employees are exposed to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. • Minimum 5 years recent field experience with ability to obtain a CDL permit within 60 days. • Ability to travel long distances on short notice and lift over 50 lb. • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and in inclement weather.
