About the Role

The Project Engineer supports field activities and works closely with the Project Manager on project administration, handling job transition, cost and schedule management, constructability, technical evaluations, quality, safety, procurement, contract management, and regulatory compliance for small to large projects. • Generate and obtain approvals of monthly billing and earned values • Develop and manage the project schedule on small or mid-sized projects • Analyze targets and goals, job cost summaries, and other reports • Alert the Superintendent and Project Manager of project impact relating to resource management, crew make‑up/size, etc. • Generate and obtain approval of the initial budget and subsequent updates, review weekly job cost summaries, and advise the Project Manager • Generate estimates of change orders and interface with pre‑construction on original bids • Collaborate with pre‑construction and the project team to manage the job transition process, communicate project requirements, and develop initial procurement plans and budgets • Generate material quantity take‑offs, scoping documents, terms and conditions, delivery, etc., to support the procurement process • Generate requests for proposals, solicit and review quotations, and recommend a procurement decision to the Project Manager • Prepare field purchase orders for standard packages and generate and obtain approval of major purchase orders • Gather and rough in monthly financial reports, and participate in project financial reviews • Work with the Project Manager to approve and code project invoices • Generate and obtain approval of technical records such as constructability reports, RFIs, inspection records, work packages and deviation reports • Coordinate with the Superintendent, Field Project Engineer, and Line and Grade to generate required as‑built records • Manage work package closure, punch lists, and project turnover process and approve pre‑ and post‑pour checklists • Collect documentation to identify and determine impact of potential contract changes, disputes, and claims • Lead LEAN/SQP committee and identify improvement opportunities • Ensure all subcontractors comply with terms of subcontracts and generate approval on impact notices as needed • Review and confirm reports documenting compliance with prevailing wage, workforce utilization, MBE/SBE participation, etc., and advise the Project Manager of issues • Interface with Safety and Risk Management to establish clinics, manage first reports of injuries, and assist with co‑worker case management • Follow Company Recruitment and Hiring Guidelines • Coordinate tracking and completion of training requirements with project management • Read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, and government regulations • Write reports, business correspondence, and procedures • Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions, geometry, and trigonometry to practical situations • Analyze and compute mathematical differences from all stages of drawings, including development of shop drawings • Understand, customize and modify spreadsheets • Direct work and evaluate strengths and weaknesses of co‑workers • Define problems, collect information, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions • Develop construction schedule via the critical path method

What You Bring

Candidates need a bachelor’s degree or equivalent construction experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to read and interpret technical documents, communicate effectively, perform cost accounting, and use construction software such as Primavera or Timberline. • Conduct new‑hire orientation and process E‑Verify (must be certified) • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years experience or 6 years construction‑related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience • Proficiency in Microsoft software programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • Communicate well with all levels of workers involved with the project • Understand cost accounting • Basic understanding of construction software such as Primavera, Timberline, Vista, etc. • Understand contracts, specifications, drawings, and scope of work • Proactive in maximizing return on investment at all times
