What You Bring

Kimley-Horn is seeking an entrepreneurial Senior Project Manager, Bridge Engineer – Practice Builder to lead and grow our bridge practice in Columbus, Ohio. This high‑impact leadership role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of client service, business development, technical excellence, and team leadership. The position can be based out of our offices in Akron, Cincinnati, or Columbus, Ohio. Candidates must have a minimum of ten years of progressive bridge design experience and hold a Professional Engineer license in Ohio, or be able to obtain one within six months via reciprocity. A BS (MS preferred) in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university is required. Strong communication, leadership, and technical skills are essential to lead a team of structural engineers and CADD technicians. Applicants must be legally authorized to work for Kimley‑Horn in the United States without employer sponsorship, as the company does not typically sponsor H‑1B or other work visa petitions. • Minimum 10 years of progressive bridge design experience. • Hold a Professional Engineer license in Ohio (or obtain within 6 months via reciprocity). • BS (MS preferred) in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university. • Strong communication, leadership, and technical skills to lead structural engineers and CADD technicians. • Experience developing plans, specifications, and estimates for new, replacement, and rehabilitation of highway bridges, including analysis, design calculations, plan production, material specification, and quality control; bridge inspection a plus. • Extensive client contacts and relationships; proven business development and proposal writing skills. • Demonstrated ability to manage projects profitably. • Strong desire and ability to engage with clients to solve project problems. • Ability to manage and mentor staff and direct resources positively. • Seismic design experience preferred. • Design of pile and drilled shaft supported foundation systems a plus. • Experience using structural analysis software and designing superstructure/substructure components.
