About the Role
The M/E Engineer 2 role supports routine mechanical, electrical, and field construction activities while gathering data, assisting with estimates, and contributing to systems and bid analysis. The position follows supervisory directions and provides a pathway to advance to M/E Engineer 3. Core duties include learning and applying safety and quality standards, performing entry‑level construction tasks, developing budgetary M/E estimates using automated tools, and assisting with pre‑construction reviews, system analysis, and scope development. The engineer also helps with shop‑drawing and submittal processes, conducts site inspections, participates in commissioning activities, and contributes to constructability review reports. Additional responsibilities involve generating and executing commissioning plans, independently interacting with project teams, representing JE Dunn to clients, reviewing subcontractor shop drawings and submittals, leading mechanical/electrical coordination, and developing system schedules. The role also supports bid analysis, subcontractor selection, sequencing requirements, and creates inspection and constructability reports throughout all construction phases. • Perform entry‑level mechanical, electrical, and field construction tasks. • Develop budgetary M/E estimates using automated estimating software. • Assist in pre‑construction review, systems analysis, and scope development. • Coordinate mechanical/electrical shop drawings, submittals, and commissioning activities. • Conduct site inspections, constructability reviews, and produce related reports. • Lead M/E coordination and schedule development for assigned projects. • Support bid analysis and provide input during subcontractor selection. • Communicate work products to clients and represent JE Dunn professionally.

What You Bring
Required qualifications are a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, architectural engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience), and at least two years of construction or engineering experience. Candidates must possess strong communication skills, proficiency in MS Office and JE Dunn’s M/E software, the ability to read plans and specifications, and a collaborative mindset.
