About the Role

In this position you will design and enhance crisis management frameworks, conduct risk assessments, scenario analyses, and tabletop exercises, and improve the integration of Emergency Response Plans into overall crisis planning. You will assist clients in establishing Crisis Management Teams and Emergency Operations Center processes, advise on incident classification and escalation protocols, and develop business impact analyses, continuity strategies, and recovery plans aligned with industry standards. The role also includes providing clear documentation, training, after‑action reporting, and subject‑matter expertise during real‑world incidents while staying current on emerging threats. • Create and refine crisis management frameworks and governance structures. • Lead risk assessments, scenario analyses, and tabletop crisis simulations. • Integrate Emergency Response Plans with life‑safety, communication, and tactical response processes. • Establish and support Crisis Management Teams and Emergency Operations Center functions. • Advise on incident classification, escalation pathways, and command/coordination models (ICS, IMT, ERT). • Develop Business Impact Analyses, continuity strategies, and recovery plans aligned with ISO 22301 and NFPA 1600. • Embed Business Continuity insights into broader enterprise risk management and operational resilience planning. • Produce pragmatic plans, procedures, training materials, and after‑action reports. • Deliver customized executive and team training, workshops, and progressive exercise programs. • Coach client organizations to build internal ownership and sustain long‑term program maturity.

What You Bring

ERM is seeking an experienced Crisis and Emergency Response Manager to work remotely from Walnut Creek, CA. This part‑time role is limited to 15 hours per week for an initial three‑week period, with the possibility of extension. The manager will support clients in strengthening their crisis management, emergency response, and business continuity capabilities. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and brings at least seven years of experience in crisis management, emergency response, business continuity, or enterprise risk management. Deep familiarity with standards such as ISO 22301, NFPA 1600, NIST, and the Incident Command System is required, as well as a proven ability to lead high‑pressure discussions and translate technical risk concepts into business‑focused recommendations. Strong facilitation, training, and executive‑level presentation skills are essential. • Minimum 7 years experience in crisis management, emergency response, business continuity, or enterprise risk management. • Strong knowledge of leading standards (ISO 22301, NFPA 1600, NIST, Incident Command System). • Demonstrated ability to lead high‑pressure discussions and guide decision‑making during incidents. • Excellent facilitation, training, and executive‑level presentation capabilities. • Preferred consulting background and certifications such as CBCP, MBCI, ARM, or NIMS credentials.

Benefits

Compensation is hourly, ranging from $57.06 to $73.31, and the position is non‑exempt and limited‑term. Eligible employees who work 20 hours or more per week receive a benefits package that includes paid time off, medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plans, and life and disability insurance; fixed‑term staff receive a limited benefits package, while casual employees are not eligible for benefits. • Hourly rate $57.06–$73.31; eligible for paid time off, medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and life & disability insurance for 20 + hours/week.
