About the Role
The Human Resources Business Partner role provides HR guidance to assigned business units, covering recruiting, employee relations, talent management, training, and benefits, while acting as the primary liaison between employees and management. This position is office‑based in West Des Moines and is not remote. • Represent company culture and D&I initiatives; actively participate in anti‑racism learning. • Administer HR policies, procedures, and programs; provide timely responses to employee inquiries. • Create a trusting environment for employees and advise business‑unit leadership on people‑related matters. • Apply lean concepts (e.g., Kanban, A3 problem solving) to improve HR efficiency and reduce waste. • Manage onboarding, college recruiting, career fairs, candidate interviews, offer extensions, and new‑hire orientations. • Coordinate internship programs and serve as the escalation point for intern concerns. • Facilitate employee relocations and transfers, including vendor estimates, temporary housing, and community resources. • Oversee immigration and work‑authorization processes such as visas and permanent‑resident applications. • Support employee discipline, investigations, performance‑improvement plans, and employee‑relations counseling under HR guidance. • Lead performance and development programs, train managers, and assist with succession planning.

What You Bring
The job involves occasional local and regional travel, including potential short‑term or overnight assignments, and requires physical activities such as sitting for extended periods, frequent computer use, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Employees may work both in office settings and on construction sites, adhering to safety policies and regulations. • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field with at least 3 years of experience (or equivalent). • HR certifications (PHR, SHRM‑CP) preferred. • Experience with SAP, Cornerstone OnDemand, First Advantage, and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. • Strong knowledge of HR policies, operations, HRIS, and database software. • Excellent organization, attention to detail, communication, and presentation abilities. • Ability to self‑manage tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision. • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus but not required. • Background in construction or large‑scale organizations (10,000+ employees) preferred. • Proficient in continuous‑improvement methods and basic lean concepts. • Willingness to travel locally and regionally for short‑term or overnight business needs.
