About the Role

In this role you will drive strategic business development across the UK Ministry of Defence enterprise, building key relationships and aligning efforts with defence sector leaders and client account managers to uncover future opportunities. • Lead UK MOD Enterprise accounts, defining and executing business strategies and financial targets. • Forge and sustain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, including business units, CAMs, commercial, and marketing teams. • Develop and prioritize regional defence growth and business development strategies in collaboration with the Defence Leadership Team. • Identify, pursue and win strategic defence contracts aligned with AECOM’s growth objectives. • Build, monitor, and manage the sales pipeline across the defence portfolio, deciding on advancement, investment, or divestment of opportunities. • Direct capture management activities, assembling pursuit teams and overseeing Go/No Go decision processes. • Collaborate with Marketing to design and launch strategic campaigns that showcase AECOM’s capabilities for key MOD opportunities. • Provide insight into long‑, medium‑, and short‑term UK MOD enterprise opportunities to guide strategic planning. • Apply global AECOM capabilities and expertise to strengthen major pursuit proposals. • Maintain an extensive network of senior stakeholders within the UK MOD, defence, and security communities.

What You Bring

The Business Development – Account Director role is a senior defence leadership position within AECOM’s Defence Leadership Team, reporting to the Head of Defence UK, Europe & India. The role requires an active UK Security Clearance (or the ability to obtain one) and may involve travel to London and other UK offices. • Leverage understanding of defence and security challenges to focus sales efforts and client engagement. • Demonstrate senior‑level experience in infrastructure advisory or comparable consulting selling into the defence sector. • Possess deep knowledge of UK MOD structures, government frameworks, and major OEM suppliers. • Hold a proven record of securing consulting contracts valued between $5 million and $20 million and working within MOD frameworks.
