About the Role

In the leadership capacity, you will own the UK MOD Enterprise accounts, building effective relationships with internal stakeholders such as business units, CAMs, commercial and strategic marketing teams, as well as external counterparts across AECOM’s geographies. You will set and implement account business strategies, objectives and financial outcomes, ensuring alignment with the broader defence portfolio. You will develop and execute the regional defence growth strategy, define growth targets and prioritize pursuits, and lead capture management and team formation for major opportunities. Responsibilities include building and monitoring the sales pipeline, advising on long‑, medium‑ and short‑term UK MOD opportunities, applying rigorous Go/No‑Go processes, and collaborating with Marketing to run strategic campaigns that position AECOM for key pursuits. • Lead UK MOD Enterprise accounts and manage day‑to‑day client communications. • Build and sustain relationships with internal stakeholders and external defence partners. • Set and implement account strategies, objectives and financial targets. • Develop regional defence growth strategy and prioritise pursuit opportunities. • Lead capture management, team formation and go/no‑go decision processes for major pursuits. • Create and monitor a robust sales pipeline across the defence portfolio. • Collaborate with Marketing to design and execute strategic campaigns for key opportunities. • Provide strategic analysis of long‑, medium‑ and short‑term UK MOD opportunities.

We are seeking a Business Development – Account Director to elevate AECOM’s profile as a partner of choice for the UK MOD and drive long‑term market penetration. The role reports to the Head of Defence UK, Europe & India, sits on the Defence Leadership Team and requires an active UK Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one, with potential Developed Vetting clearance, and regular travel to London and other UK offices. The successful candidate will be an outstanding leader with senior‑level UK MOD experience in a fast‑paced commercial environment, highly strategic with strong customer engagement, business acumen and emotional intelligence. Required experience includes senior roles in infrastructure advisory or comparable consulting, deep knowledge of the UK defence sector and its frameworks, a proven track record of winning contracts of $5 m‑$20 m, and a strong network of senior MOD and OEM stakeholders. • Require active UK Security Clearance or ability to obtain it; potential Developed Vetting clearance. • Senior‑level experience in infrastructure advisory or comparable consulting selling into defence. • In‑depth knowledge of UK defence sector, government frameworks and major OEMs. • Proven track record securing contracts ranging from $5 m to $20 m. • Strong network with UK MOD senior stakeholders and global defence OEMs. • Demonstrated sales production metrics and business development expertise.
