About the Role

Our practice covers value management, geotechnical advice, site investigation, rock, slope, coastal and environmental geotechnics, as well as specialist engineering geology, numerical modelling, seismic and hydrogeology. Work will vary, but you will be involved in soil mechanics analyses, modelling, design, ground model interpretation and technical reporting while collaborating with project managers and specialists. • Perform soil mechanics analyses for foundations, substructures, slopes, earthworks, reinforced earth structures and retaining structures. • Model soil‑structure interaction for retaining walls and underground structures using tools such as Plaxis. • Conduct structural analysis and design of foundations and subsurface structures. • Contribute to ground model interpretation and derive parameters for design and risk management. • Prepare technical reports, risk assessments and specifications. • Collaborate with project managers and specialist teams. • Take initiative to complete tasks efficiently and independently. • Produce high‑quality written work with strong attention to detail. • Apply a structured and analytical approach to problem solving.

What You Bring

The graduate position is based in Croydon. To be eligible you must have less than 12 months of relevant work experience and hold a bachelor’s degree (or be on track to graduate) in structural, geotechnical or civil engineering; some roles may require a master’s degree. We are looking for graduates with a genuine interest in ground engineering who proactively take initiative, communicate clearly with clients and colleagues, deliver high‑quality written work with attention to detail, and adopt a structured, analytical approach to problem‑solving. Flexible working is supported; please discuss any needs at interview. Mott MacDonald does not currently offer sponsorship for the UK Skilled Worker visa, nor can we accept candidates who would need the Graduate visa route, due to the temporary nature of those visas.
