About the Role

The role is for a Project Architect in the Birmingham office of ESA Architecture, part of WSP's Property and Buildings business. The Project Architect leads specific aspects of projects, working under a Project Lead to develop and review drawings, design concepts, models, sketches, research, presentations, and construction documents. The position involves managing multiple projects, interacting with clients and consultants, preparing and modifying architectural documents, solving technical and design problems, assisting with scope development, and incorporating integrated sustainable design solutions. • Develop, modify, and review drawings to reflect design intent under project lead direction. • Create design concepts, 2D/3D models, sketches, research, and data collection. • Prepare presentations, reports, and construction documents. • Manage multiple projects, delivering solutions within deadlines and budgets. • Interact with clients and consultants, presenting ideas clearly. • Produce and archive architectural documents, elevations, sections, and details. • Solve technical and design problems following standards. • Assist in project scope, plan, and service development during contract stages. • Generate 2D/3D presentations, design drawings, and renderings. • Perform basic design calculations and product research for material selection. • Integrate sustainable design solutions into projects. • Supervise junior colleagues, guiding Part‑3 development. • Track design tasks and deliverables, reporting progress and risks. • Contribute to team meetings and manage time efficiently. • Support Project Lead in creating execution plans, financial planning and resource forecasting. • Provide input on project programming and budgeting.

What You Bring

The successful candidate will manage junior colleagues, report on design programme progress and risks, support financial planning, and adhere to company values and behaviours. They must be a registered ARB Architect with proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit, experience across all RIBA stages, and ability to obtain a UK Security Check (SC). • Registered ARB Architect. • Ability to obtain UK Security Check (SC). • Proficient in AutoCAD and Revit. • Experience delivering architectural projects across all RIBA stages. • Knowledge of UK construction methodology. • Ability to sketch and communicate technical detail graphically. • Experience managing tender and construction stage work packages.
