About the Role
The MEP Director will lead the London‑based MEP team, overseeing recruitment, development, project delivery, technical quality, financial performance and business development. This role collaborates closely with senior leaders across structures, civils, sustainability and other disciplines to ensure projects are technically sound, profitable and delivered on schedule. • Lead and develop the London‑based MEP team, managing utilization, recruitment, training and performance reviews. • Mentor engineers, promote high performance and collaboration with clients and design teams. • Support MEP Project Leads on technical, programme and commercial performance; act as Project Lead on large projects. • Ensure technical design standards are maintained and continuously improved. • Oversee monthly project job costing, profit and sales reporting and provide quarterly board updates. • Review and approve all MEP bid proposals and work with sales and technical teams to meet office sales targets. • Manage resource allocation across projects and control project schedules and deadlines. • Ensure technical compliance, quality of deliverables and sign‑off of reports and design documents. • Conduct client meetings, record scope changes and advise project leads on fee impacts. • Lead post‑contract reviews and debtor reconciliation. • Develop training, succession plans and support QM/QC execution within the practice. • Enforce compliance with HDR’s QMS (ISO 9001, ISO 14001) and oversee technical audits. • Participate in strategic planning, operational metric monitoring and staffing prioritisation. • Drive business development activities, set net‑fee booking goals and allocate 50 % of time to BD efforts. • Build strong client relationships and work cooperatively with regional and business directors.

What You Bring
• Demonstrate excellent presentation, communication and leadership skills. • Possess at least 20 years of engineering design and project management experience. • Hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field and a minimum of 10 years industry experience. • Pursue or hold chartered status and be proficient in MS Office and design analysis software.
