About the Role
Our Transportation team is growing in Northern Ireland and we have an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer – E&P to join our Rail team on a full‑time permanent contract. As Project Engineer – E&P you will represent Mace whilst interfacing with our key clients, ensuring successful delivery of key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives. You will be required to work in the office three days per week with ad‑hoc travel to sites in and around Belfast. • Coordinate work with other contractors. • Liaise with route engineers (discipline). • Participate in engineering and development assurance to deliver affordable, safe, and environmentally responsible schemes on time, within cost and quality targets. • Conduct engineering assurance considering safety, reliability, maintainability, constructability and whole‑life issues. • Review compliance with relevant standards. • Apply risk identification and evaluation methods (e.g., HAZOP, QRA) to assess and compare options. • Develop the selected single option and prepare the full engineering assurance package for detailed design. • Provide clarification responses and carry out engineering verifications. • Manage engineering interfaces of allocated proposals with concurrent multidisciplinary work. • Produce and approve method statements for site works and surveys in liaison with the project engineer. • Ensure contractors’ design, construction and specialist personnel are competent (CEM/CRE appointment).

What You Bring
The role requires a chartered (or aspiring) engineer with a relevant degree (BSc/BEng or equivalent) and at least five years of relevant experience. You must be able to act as a Project Engineer, possess a solid understanding of CDM 2015 and CSM 2013 regulations, and be familiar with Network Rail risk assessment processes, including CSM‑RA.
