About the Role
The Directional Drill Operator/Locator supports directional drilling for underground conduit and fiber‑optic cable installations. The role involves locating and operating horizontal directional drilling equipment, collaborating with drill locators, ensuring public and utility safety, reading utility locates, coordinating daylighting, and transporting heavy equipment to and from job sites each day. • Locate horizontal directional drill rigs for underground conduit and fiber‑optic cable installation. • Operate the horizontal directional bore in coordination with the drill locator to install coaxial and fiber systems. • Ensure safety of the public and existing underground utility facilities. • Read utility locate information and coordinate daylighting of utilities. • Transport heavy equipment to and from the job site daily.

What You Bring
Ideal candidates prioritize safety, deliver high‑quality work, and enjoy hands‑on problem solving. Applicants should have at least two years of utility directional drilling experience in urban settings, be proficient with Vermeer or Ditch Witch drills, and be able to read maps, drawings, and diagrams. A valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record and relevant MOS codes are required, and candidates should seek long‑term projects and community impact. • Minimum 2 years of utility directional drilling experience in an urban environment. • Proficiency with various-sized Vermeer or Ditch Witch drills. • Ability to read and interpret maps, drawings, and project diagrams. • Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record. • Demonstrated safety focus, problem‑solving skills, and commitment to long‑term projects.

This position offers $27‑$32 per hour plus a comprehensive benefits package.
