About the Role
The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the operation of all plant systems and equipment, including balers, conveyor belts, gearboxes, electrical motors, pulleys, shafts and bearings. The role responds to system failures by taking corrective action, completing or assigning repairs to keep systems operational, safe, and efficient. The position reports to the Plant Maintenance Manager. The technician performs repairs in line with WM Safety, Life Critical Rules and OSHA regulations, conducts preventive maintenance inspections, diagnoses, repairs and rebuilds major equipment such as balers, conveyors, hydraulic power packs, eddy currents, electromagnetic belts, optical sorters, diverters, compressors, trash compactors, motors, glass breakers, wire tie systems, fans, pumps, forklifts, front‑end loaders and building equipment. They maintain the Daily Equipment Inspections backlog, adjust work procedures to meet production schedules, inspect third‑party repairs, recommend improvements, handle emergency breakdowns, and uphold a clean, safe work area. • Perform repairs following WM Safety, Life Critical Rules, and OSHA standards. • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and rebuild major equipment (e.g., balers, conveyors, hydraulic power packs, eddy currents, electromagnetic belts, optical sorters, compressors, motors, pumps, forklifts). • Maintain Daily Equipment Inspections (DEI) backlog. • Adjust work procedures to meet production schedules and notify Sr. Plant Maintenance Manager of additional work or delays. • Inspect quality of third‑party repairs and rebuilds. • Recommend measures to improve production, equipment performance, and product quality. • Respond to emergency breakdown service calls. • Work flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as needed. • Keep work area clean and safe in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.

What You Bring
Candidates must have at least two years of relevant experience, be 18 or older, legally eligible to work in the United States, and be able to meet the physical demands of the role with or without reasonable accommodation. Pre‑employment screening includes a drug test and physical. The job involves working in both indoor gas‑plant and outdoor conditions, including inclement weather, heat and humidity.
