About the Role

During the internship you will work on a highly functioning team, assisting with design services for a wide variety of projects while receiving guidance, supervision, and mentorship from experienced engineers. The role emphasizes collaboration, learning, and professional growth, and most interns ultimately convert to full‑time positions. Your success is the primary goal of the program. • Create engineering and construction drawings using MicroStation or AutoCAD for client projects. • Perform basic engineering calculations and input data into analysis software. • Conduct field assignments, including inspections of roadways and highways. • Review drawings, proofread reports, and provide engineering support throughout project phases.

What You Bring

• Currently enrolled in an ABET‑accredited undergraduate or graduate civil engineering program (or related field). • Demonstrated interest or prior internship experience in roadway and highway engineering design, inspection, or construction. • Basic proficiency with CAD, spreadsheets, design drawing interpretation, and technical writing. • Strong verbal and written communication skills; self‑motivated team player. • Problem‑solving and critical‑thinking abilities. • Working proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD or MicroStation (preferred). • Experience with engineering analysis/design tools like Civil 3D and HEC‑RAS (preferred).

Benefits

The position is hourly, located in El Paso, TX, with core business hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, and offers a salary range of $21.00‑$28.00 per hour based on experience and location. GFT requires successful completion of a criminal background check and complies with all applicable fair‑chance ordinances.
