About the Role
The Lead Engineer supervises operating engineers and assumes the Chief Engineer’s duties when needed, overseeing installation, repair, and maintenance of all base‑building and critical‑system equipment. The role ensures continuous, safe operation of fire safety, mechanical, electrical, and emergency backup systems while maintaining a 100 % uptime goal for the engineering team. It also involves directing contractors, managing inventory, and leading training initiatives to elevate staff capabilities. • Supervise and direct operating engineers on shift, covering maintenance, repairs, and critical system operations. • Oversee preventative maintenance program: schedule tasks, delegate work, order parts, and maintain inventory. • Manage contracted maintenance work, ensuring timely execution, warranty compliance, and secure equipment documentation. • Monitor and maintain building systems including fire/life safety, HVAC, electrical, generators, UPS, and emergency backup systems. • Analyze system performance, troubleshoot malfunctions, and implement corrective actions to achieve 100% uptime. • Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and maintain a clean workplace. • Prepare purchase orders, develop supply sources, and track tooling and supply inventory. • Lead training and professional development for staff and contractors on tools, safety, and building critical functions. • Assist Chief Engineer with KPI implementation, performance plans, and supervisory duties.

What You Bring
• Minimum qualifications: 5+ years in data center/critical facility operations, supervisory experience, SMA license, universal technician certification (or within 90 days), high school diploma/GED. • Preferred experience: Corrigo, MCIM/Salesforce, Zendesk, ServiceNow, EPA 608 certification, NFPA70E training. • Physical demands: lift ≥50 lb, climb ladders up to 30 ft, work at heights, navigate rooftops, and be on‑call for emergencies, including holidays.
