About the Role
The role’s core responsibilities include preparing, managing and maintaining project budgets and forecasts using InEight and ERP systems, overseeing month‑end processes such as accruals, cash flow forecasting and project reporting, and analysing cost and schedule performance to identify variances, trends, risks and opportunities. It also ensures commitments, purchase orders and actual costs are accurately allocated and controlled against the work breakdown structure, and supports governance, change management and continuous improvement across project controls. • Prepare and maintain project budgets and forecasts using InEight and ERP systems • Oversee month‑end activities, including accruals, cash‑flow forecasting and reporting • Analyse cost and schedule performance to identify variances, trends, risks and opportunities • Allocate commitments, purchase orders and actual costs against the work breakdown structure • Support governance, change management and continuous improvement of project controls

What You Bring
Downer’s Utilities – Water Services business is seeking an experienced Cost Controller to support the financial management of capital construction projects. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role manages and reports the financial position of one or more projects, ensuring accurate budgets, forecasts, and cost control processes. The incumbent works closely with project teams, management, and key stakeholders to support governance, decision‑making, and continuous improvement outcomes. This is a technically focused role suited to someone who enjoys detailed financial analysis while partnering with operational teams to deliver successful project outcomes. The ideal candidate has 10 + years’ experience in cost control on capital construction projects, preferably with subcontractor‑heavy delivery models, and a strong understanding of project cost control, forecasting, EVPM and financial reporting principles. Proficiency with InEight, JDE or similar project‑controls and ERP systems, advanced Excel skills and strong analytical reporting capability are required. The successful applicant will be a proactive, detail‑oriented professional who values safety, governance and collaboration. • 10+ years’ cost control experience on capital construction projects, preferably subcontractor‑heavy • Strong knowledge of project cost control, forecasting, EVPM and financial reporting • Proficiency with InEight, JDE or similar project‑control and ERP systems • Advanced Excel skills with strong analytical and reporting capabilities • Proactive, detail‑oriented professional committed to safety, governance and collaboration • Exposure to large‑scale Water Services infrastructure projects
