About the Role

• Prepare, manage, and maintain project budgets and forecasts using InEight and ERP systems. • Oversee month‑end activities, including accruals, cash‑flow forecasting and project reporting. • Analyse cost and schedule performance to identify variances, trends, risks and improvement opportunities. • Allocate and control commitments, purchase orders and actual costs against the work breakdown structure. • Support governance, change management and continuous‑improvement initiatives within project controls. • Provide exposure to large‑scale, complex Water Services infrastructure projects.

What You Bring

Downer’s Utilities – Water Services division is looking for an experienced Cost Controller to join its capital construction finance team. Reporting to the Finance Manager, the role will oversee the financial position of multiple projects, ensuring budgets, forecasts and cost‑control processes are accurate and effective. The position works closely with project teams, management and key stakeholders to support governance, decision‑making and continuous improvement. The role is technically focused, blending detailed financial analysis with collaboration across project and operational groups to drive successful outcomes. It is ideal for professionals who enjoy deep analytical work while partnering with teams to achieve project goals. • Enable strong internal mobility and career development across Energy & Utilities. • Require 10+ years’ experience in cost control on capital construction projects, preferably with subcontractor‑heavy delivery models. • Demand strong understanding of project cost control, forecasting, EVPM and financial reporting principles. • Expect experience with InEight, JDE or similar project‑control and ERP systems. • Need advanced Excel skills with strong analytical and reporting capability.
